6 Types of Warehouse Storage System
Warehouses are a necessity for every business in present times due to round the year demand of products and large scale production that is carried out in factories. These warehouses provide the optimum storage space for goods produced to keep them safe and meet the excessive demand during peak seasons. However, every business requirement varies on the basis of various criterions like product size, mode of storage and affordability by the business house. Thus, warehouses in Jaipur like industrial cities are specially constructed uniquely to meet the storage requirements of different businesses and some major storage systems commonly used in India are -
- Pallet Racking: - A pallet racking storage system is made out of wood, metal or plastic and is an ideal storage system for storing inventory kept inside large boxes. These boxes are kept on pallets by the use of automated machines like a forklift. This type of storage system is chosen after considering the movement of machine, space, weight and stability to enable easy movement of inventory.
- Static Shelving: - This form of a storage system is ideal for storing lightweight inventory that is usually hand-picked by employees and is continuously replenished. As a static shelving system does not make use of a forklift to store inventory, it is not feasible for storing heavy items at all.
- Mobile Shelving: - This form of a storage system is very common among large warehouses where inventory is either hand-picked or through the use of forklifts. Cabin made up of metals are mounted on a rail system which enables quick movement of stored items from the upper shelf to lower ones, thus enabling the quicker process.
- Multi-Tier Racking: - Storage of large stock with small unit size must be done in a multi-tier racking system to enable easy access to stored items. Inventory must be stored compactly in this type of storage to achieve efficient storage as such storage spaces can only store inventory up to a certain predefined level and any form of overloading must be avoided.
- Wire Partitions: - Such a storage system is used in storing inventory that requires additional safety. These wire partitions are not permanent and can be broken down to move to some other place. Wire density and cage size depends on the size of goods to be stored inside.
- Mezzanine Flooring: - A slightly expensive storage form, that is widely used to store a large quantity of inventory at the same place. This form of storage creates an additional level over and above the basic level of storage to create additional space. Warehouse constructed in RIICO Industrial plots of Jaipur uses this modern form of storage to provide an additional advantage to businesses with the greater requirements. Warehouse storage systems have changed drastically in the past few years, making storage convenient and affordable. Also, warehouses lighting practices should also be kept in mind while constructing to ensure goods safety and to enhance operational efficiency. Choose a warehouse after correctly evaluating your needs and cost bearing capacity, and don’t get sold out to someone selling warehouse with un-necessary facilities.
